A Family Business, Built Around Fire

Keeping West Texas homes warm since 2007, and comfortable since 1986.

Russ Ford started his first business, an insulation company, in October 1986, when he was 21. Keeping families comfortable became his life’s work. In 2007 he took that a step further and founded Ford Fireplaces, because few things make a house feel like home the way a fire does.

From the start, Russ did things differently from the big-box stores. He didn’t sell a fireplace in a box and wish you luck. He came to your home, looked at the room, and asked how you live in it: how big the space is, what finish fits, and whether you want real heat or just ambiance. That low-pressure, do-it-right approach is why Lubbock’s custom home builders trust Ford Fireplaces in their clients’ homes and in their own.

In 2020, Russ’s son Tanner came back to the family business. Over the next two years he took over day-to-day operations, bringing fresh energy to a company built on his dad’s standards. Today Tanner runs the business, and Russ is still part of the team. Together they’ve kept what customers have counted on for years: honest advice, careful installs, and an owner who picks up the phone.

Whether you’re building new, converting an old wood-burner to gas, or planning an outdoor kitchen for those long West Texas evenings, you’ll get the same family-run care that started all this.

Because wherever you find fire, you’ll find family, friends, and the best nights of the year.

“I came back in 2020, and over the next two years I took over operations. My dad built this business on doing it right, and that’s not changing.”
